Our Story

How it all started...

The church began in 1907 when Rev. Charles Martin of Paintsville became aware of the need to have a Baptist Church in Prestonsburg. The new church in Prestonsburg was named The Missionary Baptist Church and Rev. Martin was the Pastor.

The charter members of this new church were Surilda Hughes, Emery Hale, David Perry, Alice Perry, Saul Perry, Eliza Hale, Tween Sammons, and William ‘Pa’ Dingus.

A year after The Missionary Baptist Church was founded, Rev. W. H. Sledge led a
revival which may have been the greatest ever held in Floyd County as it resulted in
approximately 180 people being saved many of whom became members of our church.

Expanding the vision...

From 1908 the church continued to grow and grow.  Over the years many faithful members of the church built three buildings, started a preschool and various ministries to Connect people with God.

Where we are headed...

God's Kingdom is to continue to expand until He returns.

We view connecting people with God as our primary mission.

We see that that being accomplished being a church that connects with people, the church and with God.
