“The hope of a holy Heaven, to be enjoyed in the company with our holy Savior, is a potent motive to holiness now.” J. I. Packer

“People say, “You must be looking forward to Heaven,” thinking I am looking forward to getting my new body. And after more than twenty-five years in a wheelchair, it’s true that I am. But more than I am looking forward to my new body [she said with her voice choking with emotion] I am looking forward to a heart without sin.” Joni Eareckson Tada

Do you ever look forward to being in Heaven? . . . The person who looks forward to death simply wants to get out of life because of his troubles. That is not Christian; that is pagan. The Christian has a positive desire for Heaven, and therefore I ask: Do you look forward to being in Heaven? But, more than this, what do we look forward to when we get to Heaven? What is it we are desiring? Is it the rest of Heaven? Is it to be free from troubles and tribulations? Is it the peace of Heaven? Is it the joy of Heaven? All those things are to be found there, thank God; but that is not the thing to look forward to in Heaven. It is the face of God. “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” to stand in the very presence of God— “To gaze and gaze on thee.” Do we long for that? Is that Heaven to us? Is that the thing we want above everything else? “Martin Lloyd Jones

“Oh that every breath might be ecstatic praise, my every step buoyant with delight, as I see my enemies crushed, Satan baffled, defeated, destroyed, sin buried in the ocean of reconciling blood, hell’s gates closed, heaven’s portal open. Go forth, O conquering God, and show me the cross, mighty to subdue, comfort and save.” Valley of Vision
