Follow Me #6
Luke 5:33-39
“Follow Me” #6
Describe a time when you had to change the way you did something?
When have you been compared to someone else, How did the comparison make you feel?
Why do you think Jesus used illustrations (metaphors, parables) to answer people’s questions?
Read Hebrews 8:13. The radical shift from the forms of Old Testament worship to New Testament worship was understandably jarring for many. Even Apostles of Christ like Peter struggled with the changes (see Acts 10:13-15). In what ways have you grown accustomed to the forms of church life, while at times missing the point?
Pray that we can offer a sacrifice of praise to Jesus daily.
What steps do you need to take to apply this passage?
A few passages in Hebrews showing Jesus changes everything:
Hebrews 1:1-2
1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
Hebrews 8:13
13 In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
Hebrews 13:15-16
15 Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. 16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
